Murrumbidgee Police District Inspector Jason Dunn said the 37-year-old's body was recovered at 8.30am on Tuesday at the Bunyip Hole Campground at Darlington Point near where he was seen going under.
Mr Mahe was not wearing a lifejacket and was on a recreational floating device being towed by a boat when he fell into the water.

A crime scene has been established and an official report will be prepared for the coroner.
Inspector Dunn said it is important for people to ensure they are wearing personal life-saving devices when going into the river and to avoid alcohol when doing so.
"I would like to thank the emergency services, RFS, SES, who attended the search, they were amazing as they always are," he said.
