Qantas’s first ever non-stop flight from Australia to Italy has flown, with the Perth to Rome flight touching down in just 15 hours and 34 minutes. The inaugural flight was celebrated with an accordion player and a gelato cart greeting passengers to mark the first non-stop service between Australia and continental Europe.

Qantas CEO Alan Joyce said: “We’re seeing an increasing preference for non-stop flights to and from Australia to make the travel experience as efficient and easy as possible, and we expect that will be a permanent shift in the way people want to travel.”
