Golfers were a bit restricted last week due to the cold wet weather. There were only 11 brave souls out on Thursday afternoon.
Peter Ryan made the best of the conditions to win with a good round of golf for 26 Stableford points. Les Handicott was the runner up, Andrew Yeo won a ball.
Saturday was a cold grey day, as one of the keen golfers commented on the fourth tee this could be Scotland. We were looking out over the water of Lake Oberon at the cold grey mist.
There were 25 golfers playing a Par event. Andrew Yeo was one of the few golfers to play to or better than their handicap. Andrew had a marvellous round of +4 to easily win A grade.
Ian Fowler was the runner up with a square card. Ken Maddison won B grade with -1 and David Zhou was the runner up with -2.
Nearest the pin on the seventh hole went to Andrew Yeo, Neil Whalan was closest on the 17th hole.
Balls went to Marty Hotham, Barry Lang, Eric Whalan and Neil Whalan. There was a good turnout on Sunday for the two-person Ambrose with a good win by Blake and Anthony Miller.
Golf this Saturday will be a Stableford event including a 4BBB and Mixed 4BBB event, sponsored by Lithgow Toyota.
There is lots of work to be done on the course, you don't need to be able to drive a machine but if you can use a whipper snipper or pick up a few sticks you would be most welcome. See Mick for directions.
A small group of ladies braved the grey skies to play a stableford round last week.
Given the threatening weather conditions, it was decided that a nine hole game would be played and to add something different, the ladies played off the yellow tees.
The going was heavy but the greens were quite good to play, as they recover from the recent renovation.
The winner was Robyn Slattery with 24 points, which was well ahead of everyone else. In second place was Glennie McGrath with 21 points and in third place was Joan Graham with 19 points.
Next week will be a stableford.
