GOOD golfing conditions bring a crowd.

There were 33 golfers playing the Thursday 12-hole social handicap competition last week.

This format is proving very popular for the newcomers and the more seasoned golfers as well.

Barry Hore loved the sunshine and his golf shone too. His round of 29 points made him the winner. Richard Gear was the runner-up.

Eric Whalan was closest to the pin on the first hole.

Balls went to Tim Arnison, Ian Fowler, Don Miller, Phil Cummings, Peter Ryan, Larry Williams, Kevin Hally, Peter Marks, Mark Mathews, Laurie Murphy and Eric Whalan.

The highlight for the Thursday golfers was Sean Mooney's eagle on the 15th hole.

Saturday was a brilliant spring day and brought the largest field of golfers to the course for several months.

There were 52 golfers playing a 4BBB and individual stableford event.

Despite the good conditions and the course in top condition, there were not many golfers who played to their handicap.

Kim Rawlings and Mick McKechnie both played to their handicap and had a marvellous fourball score of 52 points to win.

Terry Robinson and Linore Zamparini were not far behind with 49 points to be the runners-up.

Marty Hotham had a fine round for 38 points to win A grade. Kim Rawlings was the runner-up with 37 points.

Mick McKechnie won B grade with 36 points. Linore Zamparini was the runner-up on a countback with 36 points.

Katie Graham was the winner of the ladies' event with 32 points.

Nearest the pin on the seventh hole was Harold Lyme, just 97 centimetres from the cup.

The highlight of the day was a hole in one for captain Barry Lang on the 17th hole.

Balls went to Kevin McGrath, Phil Cummings, Bob Rickard, Angus Askew, Chris Lord, Dave Zhou, Steve Askew, Rob McGrath, Marty Hotham, Darren Gordon, Kevin Whalan, Arron Williams, Dennis O'Connell, Ken Maddison and Barry Lang.

Green renovations are coming up in a couple of weeks and we will need all the help we can get to have the job done in a timely manner.

If you have some time Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, September 26 to 28, please speak to Mick, Rob or Barry.
