The guest speaker, Colin Hollis, gave a most engaging and informative talk on roses, including the development of new varieties and the difficulties of naming them.
He also gave useful advice on the planting and general care of roses.
The raffle was won by Gordon Streek, a visitor who accompanied our guest speaker. His prize, a Mr Lincoln Rose, will be planted in Peace Park in Kiama, his home town.
Some members took the opportunity to become members of the Rose Society.
The sudden onset of winter meant the number of OGY entries was well down. Congratulations to Janell for winning the day with her lovely arrangement.
After the recent heavy snowfall, it will be interesting to see what ingenious entries our members come up with.
Several car-loads of members went to the Drayshed Nursery at Blayney last month. Many thanks to the excursion committee for their organisation. The day was very much enjoyed and some interesting purchases were made.
This month's meeting is on Monday, June 21 at the Uniting Church Hall at 9.30am for a 10am start. Don't let the cold weather put you off. Garden Club meetings are very warm social affairs.
Hope to see you there.
