EARLIER: Bathurst is waking to its best blanket of snow in almost six years following good falls across the region overnight.
The Bureau of Meteorology had forecast snow to as low as 500 metres and it finally arrived in the early hours of this morning.

Motorists are urged to take extra care on the roads this morning as crews continue assessing conditions across the region.
The snow is even heavier on the high country around Bathurst with thick snow on the ground around Oberon following a few light flurries yesterday.
