Oberon Public School and the Year 2 class at St Joseph's Primary School were both finalists in the awards, held to mark World Environment Day last Saturday.
Oberon Public School was recognised for its long-running project to grow fruit and vegetables for the whole school to enjoy. Students have installed a water tank, sourced manure through local farms to add fertiliser, and have two resident chickens that provide eggs for the school canteen.
The Year 2 class at St Joseph's has been recognised for its thriving Yerrusha (which means legacy) garden.
Students source seedlings from local businesses and have recently installed two water bottle refill stations.
In the future they hope to expand the gardens by installing a watering system and greenhouse.
Reconciliation Week
TO celebrate Reconciliation Week, Oberon Public School students have been learning about the concept of reconciliation and creating artwork.
The theme this year is "More than a word".
The students created some wonderful artwork during the week.
Taster lessons
OBERON High School's Year 10 students had the opportunity to sit in on taster lessons last week.
The lessons were designed to give them a deeper understanding about course content and the expectations that lead to a successful completion at HSC level.
