Rural Fire Service
Given how prone much of our landscape is to fire, the more volunteers the Rural Fire Service (RFS) can tap in to, the better. If you want to help contribute to fire prevention and fighting, why not get along to the Hazelgrove RFS for their annual general meeting and find out a bit more abut the brigade? Angry, Whit and Junior
Angry Anderson, Mike Whitney and Wayne "Junior" Pearce will be at the Oberon RSL for one huge night on Friday, June 4. There'll be plenty of music and stories from this music icon and sporting legends.
Blokes Don't Talk
Bathurst playwright Vince Melton first wrote Blokes Don't Talk as a series of monologues based on personal stories men would share at their local pub over a few drinks. It's been turned into a seven-part series, which is running on community station 2MCE on Tuesdays. Put it in the diary to tune in.
Enjoy the delights of an autumn high tea at Abercrombie House. There will be sweet and savoury delights, leaf tea to sup and plunger coffee (if that is your preferred beverage). While you enjoy your repast you can list to the strains of a classical Celtic harpist. You'll also have the chance to explore the main rooms of the house and the gardens. June 6, tickets at $49 for adults, concession $45 and children under 14 years $25 are available from the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre or Abercrombie House.
OTHR Open Day
The Oberon Tarana Heritage Railway will hold its monthly open day at the Oberon Railway Station on Saturday, June 5, from 10am to 2pm. Visit the station building and rolling stock shed, see the photo display of the Tarana Oberon branch line history, walk through carriages and see other vehicles up close, including locomotives. Open the first Saturday of the month. Adults $5 admission
Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase
The Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase will bring the crème de la crème of the 2021 Festival to Bathurst on June 5. Featuring some of the Festival's hottest acts live on stage for an incredible two hours of hard-hitting laughter. Bathurst Memorial Entertaiment Centre, 8pm to 10pm. Oberon Community and Farmers' Market is held on the first Saturday of every month from 9am until 1pm at the Oberon Showground. On offer is a huge range of home made and home grown foods and produce, as well as crafts, plants, garden ornaments, wine, cheese and nuts according to the season.
