Laurie passed away on April 2 last year but, due to COVID, they could not hold a formal funeral.
Laurie was born and raised in Oberon and his family came from Hazelgrove.
After leaving school, he began a life of hard work to establish an exceptionally successful farming career.
He married Beryl Moran in 1951 and together they raised their children, Marcia, Stephen, Julie and Neil.
Laurie was widely regarded throughout the Oberon district for his farming acumen and this was evident at the saleyards where his lambs consistently topped the market.
He was always known for his intelligence, smart thinking and good decision-making.
Laurie strongly believed that one had to work with whatever the season would throw at them and not to let it bring things unstuck.
He was also a very tough and talented rugby league player and really enjoyed playing with the Oberon Tigers for many years.
Laurie represented NSW Country and Western Division and was acknowledged by the Oberon club as being one of their legends.
His family warmly invites relatives and friends to join them at the club to share memories and stories of Laurie and to give him a deserving final farewell.
