The rising track star clocked in at an impressive 61.96 seconds to break the Australian T47 women's 400m record to claim gold and $1000 for herself and a further $1000 for Oberon District Little Athletics from the Coles Australian Record Challenge, which recognised the achievements of record-breaking athletes and their community club of choice.

Alissa, who is based in the ACT, nominated Oberon District Little Athletics after a visit to the centre earlier in the year.

"I've chosen Oberon Little Athletics to receive $1000 because I visited the centre a couple months ago for Coles Community Round and I got to know some of the kids and volunteers who do such an amazing job," she said.

Oberon District Little Athletics secretary Sue-Ellen Boss-Walker said Alissa's nomination came as a complete surprise to the centre and its athletes.

"We're completely honoured and stunned and incredibly grateful to be nominated by Alissa to receive the $1000 from the Coles Australian Record Challenge," she said.

"We met Alissa during Coles Community Round in February and all our athletes and volunteers fell in love with her. We've been keeping an eye on her performances since then and she's such an inspiration to our athletes."

"The $1000 will go a long way and will help us to redirect money from our canteen to buying new equipment such as an electronic starting gun so that we can take our club to the next level."

A total of $22,000 worth of Coles gift cards were donated to Aussie athletes and Little Athletics Centres from the inaugural Coles Australian Record Challenge, including $10,000 to para-athletes.

In addition to the Coles Australian Record Challenge, Coles has provided more than $1.6 million in sports equipment grants to Little Athletics Centres across Australia since 2018.
