KEEN golfers Joan Graham and Marjorie Webb were searching for a wayward drive on the second hole at Oberon Golf Course on February 2 when they found what they thought was a tiny possum.

"We thought it was a sugar glider, but, on closer inspection, it turned out to be a rare squirrel glider," Ms Webb said.
"We wrapped him up in a towel and took him back to the clubhouse, where he lapped some water from a spoon.
"We contacted WIRES and local wildlife carer Margaret Kilby took him into her care," Ms Webb said.
"The glider was passed onto a small animal expert from Orange.
"The glider was only 50 grams when found and is now weighing in at 160 grams."
Ms Webb said the glider was released back at Oberon Golf Course last Sunday.
"We wish the glider a happy and long life as this species is described as vulnerable," she said.
