Glamping
Autumn Festival
This year's glamping season at Mayfield coincides with the Autumn Festival. The tents features lush linens, proper mattress, lavish furnishings, and day and night access to the great outdoors. Experience a sunset picnic, have breakfast delivered and enjoy a private tour of the garden. Prices start at $385 for two. Children are also welcome.

Line dancing classes are being held for adults at Black Springs hall every Monday from 5.30pm to 7pm. It's a great form of exercise because everyone gets to laugh and enjoy the music as they move. Newcomers are more than welcome. Classes will run on April 19 and 26, and May 3 and 10. Cost is $5 per person. Contact 0427 558 706.
High tea

Enjoy the delights of an autumn high tea at Abercrombie House. There will be sweet and savoury delights, leaf tea to sup and plunger coffee (if that is your preferred beverage). While you enjoy your repast you can list to the strains of a classical Celtic harpist. You'll also have the chance to explore the main rooms of the house and the gardens. Sculptures by the Bush

What will you spot this year when Sculptures by the Bush springs to life? A cartoon character, recycled metal animals ... or funky mailboxes. It's quite the sight to see, and there will be a digital map for you to follow. There are three categories - hay bale art, farm art and scarecrows. Which will be your favourite? Food, wine and foraging are returning with the Field to Forest Festival that will showcase what makes the Oberon region so great. There will be specialised foraging trips for mushrooms, forest lunches, wine tasting, 4WD tag-along trips and Renzaglia's famous Harvest Long Lunch returns. Election workshops
Get informed
Oberon Council will host workshops for prospective candidates at the local government election. They will be informal and interactive, and held on Thursday, April 22 at 2pm and Thursday, April 29 at 5pm at the Robert Hooper Community Centre, Fleming Street, Oberon. Council hopes to have the NSW Electoral Commission returning officer attend a future meeting. Local government elections will be held on September 4.

'shroom hunt

The mushrooms are out and the hunt is on. Yum! As the weather gets cooler it's time to get out and try some foraging in the beautiful countryside around Oberon. You can try and spot them in the wild yourself (be careful you don't pick out something deadly) or take part in a tour that starts from Hampton. Tickets include a barbecue lunch (with 'shrooms on the menus, of course) and tips on finding, preparing and preserving the fungi.
