IN glorious conditions for golf, the ladies played a stableford last Wednesday.

The course was a bit heavy after all the beautiful rain, but the greens were in excellent shape.

The winner was Joan Graham and the runner-up was Katie Graham. In third place was Robyn Stapleton on a countback from Glennie McGrath.

Nearest the pin was Katie Graham in Division 1 and Bev Dale in Division 2.

An extremely successful fundraising afternoon was held last Thursday, with the enthusiastic support of the men and a handful of ladies who came to play the 12 holes competition.

Around $2500 was raised for the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research through the raffle and the auction. The funds have been requested to be directed to cancer research.

Pat Bird did an excellent job as the auctioneer, extracting remarkable bids from the generous participants!

Thanks go to those who provided prizes for the auction and who participated in it. Your support helped make the day the success it was.

Next week will be the second round of the Club Championships. The Mabel Mackenzie Brooch will be held in conjunction with the championships round.
