Classes will alternate between Mondays and Tuesdays, depending on hall availability, but will generally be held from 6pm on Monday nights until Easter.

Black Springs Community Association president Christine Healey says this is a great initiative to make use of the local hall.

"We have a wonderful facility here and it's so good to see people coming along and using it," she said.

Jenny Barker, the district's "go to" girl of line dancing, has been involved in the activity for decades.

"We started line dancing in Oberon in the early 90s and some of us have continued with it ever since."

Jenny says it's a tremendous way to keep fit, keep the brain ticking over and socialise, which are all important for good health and wellbeing.

"We need more people to join us, to make it worthwhile and add to the fun," Jenny said.

The sessions are open to all adults at a cost of $5 each session per person.

"We don't have enough of this sort of fun in our lives and we want to welcome people, not just from Black Springs, but from Oberon and all the little places around," Christine said.

"It's especially good during daylight savings because you can come out after work, have a dance and a laugh and get home well before dark.

"For those of us in sedentary jobs, in particular, it's a fantastic way to clear your head and get the body moving again.

"So come and join us next Monday night. We want to make sure this takes off and keeps going - at least during the warmer months."
