And now renowned poet and author Noel Hayes has penned a very special poem for a beloved Oberon local.
The poem will feature in his latest book I Have A Dream, which will be launched in Oberon on Saturday evening.
Mr Hayes is no stranger to telling a tale. He and his wife Yvonne spend half of their year travelling around Australia and meeting locals.
"We've done 280,000 kilometres since 2005," Mr Hayes said. "There wouldn't be half a square kilometre of dirt we haven't been on in Australia."
Mr Hayes said through his years of working, coaching football and travelling he had met some colourful characters.
He has written 12 books since 2002, with around $100,000 from sales being donated to a variety of charities including Bear Cottage, Rotary and Shannon's Bridge.
I Have A Dream will be launched this Saturday, February 13 at the Oberon RSL Club from 6pm.
