Robina Beard will be Oberon's Australia Day Ambassador at this year's celebrations at the showground hall on January 26.

Ms Beard, an entertainer, dancer and actor, became a household name after starring as "Madge" in the long-running advertisement for Palmolive dishwashing liquid.

Australia Day events will start from 9am with an Aussie-inspired morning tea and entertainment from Clancy Pye.

This will be followed by the official Australia Day ceremony where award winners will be announced.

Ms Beard, who has been a former NSW Seniors Festival Ambassador and still runs exercise and tap dancing classes for seniors, will help to present the awards.

In 2011, she was presented with an OAM for her service to the arts and has received an Australian Dance Award for Lifetime Achievement.

This year's Australia Day Celebrations will be held as a COVID-19 safe event and will be ticketed to manage numbers. Register for your free tickets at https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/australia-day-celebrations-tickets-132482808647.

'Come back' funds

Not-for-profit groups can lodge applications for Better Regions Funding after round five opened on January 12.

The $100 million round of funding will help Australia to "Come Back" by investing in shovel-ready projects that support communities and regions after the effects of the 2020 bushfires, prolonged drought and the restrictions put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Applications close on March 5 for grants of between $20,000 and $10 million. Funding must be matched dollar for dollar in cash. Further information is available at www.business.gov.au/bbrf
