Minister for Regional Transport and Roads and Bathurst MP Paul Toole said the work would permanently secure 500 metres of the slope across an area where there were significant landslips on to Jenolan Caves Road after rain in August.
"This work will help reduce the risk of this happening again," he said.
The work will be carried out until Friday, December 18, and from Monday, January 11 to Friday, April 23 next year.
Work will be carried out from 7am to 5pm on weekdays, and occasional Saturdays from 8am to 1pm, as needed, weather permitting.
One lane will remain open for the duration with a reduced speed limit of 40km/h and stop/slow in place.
