Bathurst MP Paul Toole said the money had been allocated through the Growing Local Economies fund.
"The Tablelands Way is the inland tourist road connecting Canberra with the Hunter Valley," Mr Toole said.
"It is also a key freight route through the Oberon, Upper Lachlan and Lithgow shires that is used extensively by heavy vehicles that service the timber, livestock and mining industries. These industries provide untold benefits to the local economy, but this does result in increased wear and tear."
Mr Toole said upgrading the Tablelands Way would make travel safer for local road users, tourists and heavy vehicle drivers, with new surfacing reducing wear and tear on trucks and reducing travel time.
"Specific upgrades, including non-skid pavement, will be installed along sections of Lowes Mount Road used by heavy vehicles to transport pine timber logs from Oberon's Borg manufacturing plant," Mr Toole said.
