Marina and John met each other in Melbourne. They eventually moved to Sydney and were married on October 29, 1960.
The couple migrated to Australia from Slovenia to make a better life for themselves - John in 1957 and Marina in 1959.
They have four children - Diana, Rob, Stephen and Liz - eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
After John suffered an accident in Sydney the couple decided a tree change would suit them and they moved to Oberon in August 1999. John worked at Oberon Public School as a handyman for many years before retiring.
Their daughter, Diana, said for many years they would always go to Oberon to pick mushrooms in the forests.
"A very European thing to do but that's what attracted them to the area," she said. "They love their life in Oberon and due to COVID have not seen many of their family for many months."
The family wishes them many more years together as a happy couple.
