The Thursday afternoon 12-hole social handicap competition attracted 30 golfers.
That is a very good field. It is a reflection of the enjoyment of the social format; it is easy for new golfers to get started and learn the game.
The winner on Thursday was Scott McAllan with a great score of 34 points. Most of our golfers would be happy with that score for the 18 holes.
Balls went to Barry Stubbs, Andrew Yeo, Bruce Webb, Don Miller, Liam O'Hara, Blake Miller, Joe Casey, Laurie Murphy, Paul Behan, Barry Hore and Peter Dale.
A typical September spring day greeted golfers on Saturday: sunny, with a chill in the breeze.
There was a good field of 43 golfers playing a stroke round for the monthly medal.
Bob Slattery made a triumphant return to golf after a lay-off over winter.
Bob won the A grade monthly medal with a fine round of 78/69 and the A grade scratch ball.
Ian Fowler was the runner-up with a good round of 86/72 and Eric Whalan won the putting in A grade with just 27 putts.
Robyn Stapleton won the B grade competition with a good score of 87/71. Robyn also won the B grade scratch ball and the putting competition with 31 putts.
Patrick Bird was the B grade runner-up and monthly medal winner with his round of 96/74.
Balls went to Dom York, Eric Whalan, Jason Sargent, Adrian Poulten, Chris Lord, Allan Cairney, Anthony Borton, Peter D'Arcy, Mark Mathews and Bob Rickard.
On Saturday we will play a stableford round.
The members with carts and their passengers enjoyed a smooth ride around the course this week: most of the cart tracks are now either concrete or bitumen seal.
There are still plenty of trees and branches to be moved. If you have a bit of time and energy, give Mick a call for some direction. Any help will be gratefully received.
