HI, my name is Maria McGrath. I was born in Oberon, grew up on a farm just out of town, and have lived here most of my life.

I started working in tourism when I was 15 at Jenolan Caves, and then went to the Big Trout Motor Inn, learning everything from cleaning to managing.
I travelled a lot in my 20s, seeing what Australia has to offer, living in a number of places, and experiencing many different jobs. But I always returned home as my heart is here in Oberon.

My business, Restore Balance and Harmony, was established in 2014, after many years of silently struggling with depression, and finding that traditional therapies and personal development did not help me.
With very little real talk, knowledge or understanding of emotional and mental health, I started sharing my story to help others.
I now work specifically with women who know they are ready to let go of their past emotional baggage and negative mindset that is holding them stuck, they are searching for something to change in their life, and they want to feel better in and about themselves, so they can be more, do more and give more back to the people they love the most.
It's important that people know there are solutions for depression, anxiety and emotional pain and struggle, and that it is not something to bottle up inside, be ashamed of, or deal with alone.
And with the huge stresses of the last 12 months, drought, fire, flood and now COVID-19, I will soon launch a six week online program for "Building Emotional Strength and Resilience" that I hope will make a real difference.
I am a contributing writer for an international online magazine called Luminous Wisdom - Sophia, and was featured on their cover in April 2020. I was also featured on the cover of Australian Women's Empowerment Magazine, YMAG, in October 2018, and became a published co-author in November 2019. Not bad for a small town country girl!
I would like to thank Oberon Council, and mayor Kathy for sponsoring the Seed Scheme that has given me the opportunity to develop new skills and expand my business, and connect with women in Oberon, and all over the country.
