Those are two of the findings contained in a statistical analysis of the Oberon local government area that councillors recently had the chance to chew over.
At Oberon Council's August meeting, councillors were supplied with an update of the Six Month Delivery Plan for January to June 2020 for their information.

The Local Government Act 1993, within the Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework, requires that the general manager reports at least every six months on principal activities in the delivery program.
Oberon Council's Integrated Planning and Reporting documents are built around the five themes developed in the 2019-2040 Community Strategic Plan: Community Well Being, A Growing Economy, Caring for the Environment, Infrastructure and Services and Leadership and Management.
Councillors were asked to note the progress achieved in the first 12 months of the program, taking into consideration that some progress might be slower than anticipated due to COVID-19.
STATISTICS
OBERON'S local government area population is 5301. Males make up 52 per cent and females 48 per cent. There are 1345 families.
People aged 65 years and over make up 22.1pc of the population and children aged 0-14 years make up 17.5pc.
Median weekly household income is $1239 (up 25 per cent since 2011). Number of private dwellings is 2599. The internet is accessed from 72.2pc of dwellings and 32.1pc of people attend an educational institution.
In terms of employment and industry, 59.5pc or 1419 people work full time; 29.1pc or 694 people work part time; 4.9pc are employed in log sawmilling; 4.2pc in beef cattle farming; 3.7pc in sheep or beef cattle farming; 3.4pc in local government administration; and 20.1pc of people do voluntary work.
Cr Ian Doney said it is an exhausting report but a good exercise to take on every six months.
Cr Mark Kellam said in light of local governments, most projects in Oberon are doing well.
