WHAT a contrast in two Saturdays: after snow the previous week and no golf, this week the day was a pure delight - warm sunshine and no wind.

Thursday social handicap golf was well-supported, even though there was still a lot of snow on the course in the shady spots.
Twenty-four players teed up in pleasant conditions. Liam O'Hara, one of the new faces, had a good day and won the event with a good score of 30 points. Balls went to Dave Campbell, Andrew Yeo, Don Miller, Sean Mooney, Kath Mooney and Hugh O'Neil.
On Saturday, we played the first fourball event for some months along with an individual stableford event. There was an excellent field of 43 golfers. There were some excellent rounds played, however, most struggled to play to their handicap.
Dave Sellers excelled once again. His round of 40 points was enough to win A grade from Zac Elwin with 39 points. Dave King was the best in B grade. His round of 35 points was enough for the win. One of our visitors, Col Ploughman, was the runner-up with 33 points.
Dave Sellers and Bart Fitzpatrick won the fourball with a total of 76 points. Zac Elwin and Bart were runners-up with 74 points.
Balls went to Peter Hutchinson, Blake Miller, Luke Christie-Johnston, Dom York, Laurie Murphy, Andrew Yeo, Bart Fitzpatrick, Neil Whalan and Barry Lang.
There was quite a bit of damage caused by the snow - lots of branches of trees and a few trees down. If any of our members could help clean up, it would be appreciated; there is the opportunity to get loads of firewood.
A contractor is working on sealing cart paths on the course. It is hoped this will be completed this week. This work will be a big improvement to the general quality of the Oberon Golf Course. Cart drivers should stick to the tracks wherever possible and avoid driving on landing areas and banks around the greens.
On Saturday evening, Trish in the kitchen will be cooking up a curry night. Ring the club on Thursday or Friday afternoons to book in and invite a friend.
