A notice of motion was put before council's July meeting that council provide funds to widen 200 metres of the Faugha Ballaugha Road at a possible cost of $5000. The motion was subsequently deferred to obtain more information regarding the cost.

Council agreed the work would not proceed if it was set to cost more than $5000.

Following the July meeting, council's director of technical services Chris Schumacher reviewed the scope of the work and determined it would be over a two to three day period.

With equipment, traffic control, float, waste facility fees, road base, gravel and tree lopping equipment, he said the cost would be $14,108.20.

In Mr Schumacher's report, it said this project would provide a heavy machinery training exercise for the benefit of staff.

"The additional estimated cost to provide this training could be expected to be $980," his report said.

The road widening was approved at council's August meeting, to be funded by Section 94 contributions.
