Council says streets will be cleaner thanks to new sweeper

AT Oberon Council's most recent ordinary meeting, the purchase of a secondhand street sweeping vehicle from Hawkesbury Council was a confidential item on the agenda.

It was unanimously resolved to buy the sweeper, which will be funded using an internal loan from council's development reserve.

Council says residents have regularly expressed concern about the cleanliness and tidiness of Oberon streets and the purchase will eliminate much of the need for expensive manual sweeping.

Council says there is also a demand from industry for sweeping within work sites.

The estimated return on the investment of $135,000 is between 18 months and two years.
