Member for Bathurst Paul Toole has announced the Lodge will receive a NSW Government Community Building Partnership grant of $6000.

The funding will be used to add new kitchen facilities to the historic 1923 Lodge building on the corner of Oberon and Dudley streets.

Mr Toole and mayor Kathy Sajowitz met with Masons Keith Harvey and Terry Boyce recently to deliver the news.

Mr Harvey is the current Right Worshipful Master of Lodge 355, having also filled the role in 1970-71, 1995-96 and 1998-99.

"The kitchen facilities at the Lodge really did need improving, especially coming up to the centenary anniversary in October," Mr Toole said.

"Community Building Partnership grants such as this are all about helping local organisations such as Lodge 355 with infrastructure projects.

"They are aimed at initiatives that deliver positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes while also promoting community participation and inclusion."

ORGANISERS of Oberon Masonic Lodge's annual debutante ball have made the hard decision to postpone the deb ball for 2020.

A spokesperson for the Lodge said this year has been a very unfortunate year for all Australians and the world.

"The virus that has visited us in 2020 has been devastatingly brutal to all and sundry," the spokesperson said.

"The restrictions that have been placed on the community and the Oberon RSL have been substantial. These restrictions have been put in place by the Federal Government, NSW Government and NSW Health for the benefit of community safety.

"The Freemasons of Oberon Lodge have tried to make the ball a highlight of 2020 for Oberon's debs and their family and friends. We thank all the mothers and daughters and deb partners for their interest and applications for this year's ball and we wish everyone well and hope that 2021 will be a year to celebrate with a ball."
