But then a global pandemic hit, Australians were asked to stay home, and Uber had to put the brakes on.
"With travel restrictions now easing, and the need to support domestic travel more important than ever, we're thrilled to say that Uber is coming to regional NSW," Mr Taylor said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"It might be a little later than we originally planned, but we're thrilled to be on our way.
"And with drivers across regional NSW already expressing interest in driving with Uber before COVID-19 got in the way, we're more excited than ever to bring flexible, on-demand transport to the entire state.
"So right now, people anywhere in NSW can sign-up to drive with the Uber app. and then we'll switch the app on for riders."
Mr Taylor said locals interested in driving with Uber are asked to sign up soon to be ready to hit the road.
