ON Tuesday, June 30 at 9.20am, Oberon Fire and Rescue responded to concerns of smoke coming from a house in Edith.

This was quickly upgraded to 'house alight' en route.

Firefighters got to work with self-contained breathing apparatus and extinguished the blaze, which had quickly progressed to full structural collapse.

No-one was inside at the time.

NSW Rural Fire Service also assisted with fighting the fire.

Later that evening, Oberon Fire and Rescue responded to another house fire at Mozart. Upon arrival, NSW Rural Fire Service was already at work on the roof.

Oberon Fire and Rescue members used self-contained breathing apparatus to make an offensive attack via the front of the house.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, which had travelled from an external wall through the ceiling and into internal walls.

The house was saved, although it was still affected by substantial fire, smoke and water damage.
