Oberon Council worked closely with Initiative Events to deliver Oberon's first hosting of Spartan.
Oberon won the rights to host the event in early 2019, making it one of the few stops on the National Series that includes a sprint, beast, kids' event and hurricane heats.
Council's tourism and economic development manager Mat Webb said athletes tackled the five-kilometre Sprint (20 obstacles) and/or 21km Beast (31 obstacles) on Saturday.

"Oberon's unique layout and scenic backdrop was well received by participants, with the rain earlier in the week creating a muddy but fun challenge," he said.
"The fastest time recorded on the 21km Beast circuit in the elite series was Adrian Jennenga with a time of one hour, 40 minutes and 17 seconds.
"Second was Liam McKenzie with one hour, 40 minutes and 32 seconds and third was Josh Perizzolo with one hour, 41 minutes and 28 seconds. The times were very close."
The kids took to a fun and challenging circuit on Sunday that offered 1.8km (12 obstacles) and 2.8km (18 obstacles) courses.
"Local participation across the weekend was strong, with local teams entering and lending a hand to volunteer at the event," Mr Webb said.
"Around 80 volunteers helped Spartan deliver the event."
Mr Webb said early indications from local businesses had been positive, with many accommodation providers and retailers reporting a bump in bookings and sales across the weekend.
Maria McGrath from the Big Trout Motel said they were booked out Friday and Saturday nights as they also had bookings for a wedding at Waldara.
She said things are picking up after a very quiet December and January due to the bushfires.
Mr Webb said the local Rural Fire Service also benefited from participating in the event with nearly $5100 raised across the weekend to help with future endeavours and recovery from the recent fires.
