That's because she's a "leaper" - someone born on February 29 who gets to mark their birthday only once every four years.
Mrs Behan (nee Sheppard) was born in Oberon on February 29, 1936 at Nurse Fox's house in North Street, went to school at St Joseph's School and moved on to start her nursing career at Prince Henry Hospital in Sydney.
She then moved to Perth to complete her midwifery degree.
IN OTHER NEWS AROUND OBERON:
Mrs Behan moved back to Oberon in 1961 to start her working career at Oberon Hospital.
She was the matron at the hospital for 22 years and worked alongside Dr Lance Robey until she retired in 1994. She married Col Behan in 1961 and they had eight children.
Mrs Behan said she always celebrated her birthday with the late Crowe Hawkins, who was also born on February 29.
Last weekend she celebrated her 21st (really 84th) birthday with family and friends at the Oberon Golf Club.
