Oberon Council and Upstairs Regional Incubator Bathurst Ltd recently announced a memorandum of understanding for what is being called a Regional Innovation Ecosystem Partnership.
Under the partnership, both parties will work together to foster entrepreneurs, innovation and business growth to encourage employment and trade within the Oberon local government area.

Oberon Council's tourism and economic development manager Mathew Webb said the partnership aims to bring the knowledge, technology and networks of the Bathurst-based Upstairs Incubator Hub to Oberon to provide opportunities for business and budding entrepreneurs.
"The partnership will aim to deliver access to special events, mentorship and an entry point to the Business Incubator network for the community," he said.

"We know our community is renowned for innovation, particularly in timber and agriculture, and this partnership will provide assistance for those who would like to explore a new business idea or growth opportunity.
"We are excited that 2019 saw the Upstairs Startup Hub recognised as finalists in a number of local business awards and winner of Best New Business."
Bathurst Upstairs Startup Hub head of community Gerarda Mader said the Upstairs Startup wants to support start-ups through the region and is excited to welcome Oberon Council in conjunction with Kenny Springs to the network in supporting Oberon entrepreneurial start-ups.
"It provides great resources and workspace for budding new business," she said.
"The new year and decade awaits some exciting area rollouts from the Upstairs Startup Hub, including a course called Kaffeine, specifically designed to get a smart idea launched. If you want to explore an idea, come and see us."
