Oberon SES members say they have received an "amazing assortment of goods" from the Oberon, Bathurst and Sofala communities, donating to the Jenolan Caves Rural Fire Service, which lost its shed in the Green Wattle Creek fire.
As well, a truck and trailer-load of goods was delivered by George Marta and friends from the Belmore and Greystanes communities last week.
Oberon SES members say these donations will be dispersed to local RFS units, the local National Parks and Wildlife Service, Forestry, families affected by bushfires in Lithgow, and drought-affected families and communities further west.
Local children also made a thoughtful donation of toys to go to other children who have lost everything in the bushfires.
Oberon SES member Peter Culley said they dispersed some of the goods locally and to Lithgow.
"There was so much, so we put a call out to communities who were in need of donated items that we had in our sheds in Oberon," he said.
"And we had a call from the rural fire service in Jingellic, a little town 40 kilometres south of Holbrook.
"With the drought and fires, they needed as many donated goods as they could get.
"It's the smaller communities that seemed to be forgotten about.
"We could not wait any longer. Last weekend, members loaded up trailers and delivered about $20,000 worth of goods to a much appreciative community. It was a 1000-kilometre round trip, but it was all worthwhile."
Mr Culley said the donation from the Sydney community came with instructions that they did not care where the goods went, but they wanted the goods to go to a community in need.
Oberon SES is now at capacity for donated goods and cannot accept any more.
Mr Culley said those who want to donate money directly to the Jenolan Caves Rural Fire Service can do so through the GoFundMe account www.gofundme.com/f/jenolan-rfs.
"This will be greatly appreciated by them to rebuild and set up a new fire shed they lost in the bushfire - hopefully in the near future," he said.
