We are very blessed to have this special person in our community, who for many years has cleaned, mowed, weeded every space in Oberon and its surrounds. On any given day you will see Mr Webb in his Toyota loaded with his tools to do the chosen job of the day. Leaving early morning and returning at dusk.

He clears the railway line from Oberon to Hazelgrove taking all rubbish to the tip. At the Oberon Tarana Heritage Railway site he whipper snips, mows, plants gardens that he maintains all year round. Any dirt and stones are removed from one site and relocated where needed for repairing potholes.

Mr Webb has also done a lot of work at the railway cattle yards on the Albion Street bypass where he planted some garden beds. When it's show time Mr Webb clears the block near the Oberon Showground to display the signs and maintains the garden beds.

At the Oberon Showground Mr Webb has put in many hours over many years. He has restored the grounds to a very tidy condition - an asset for the Oberon community to enjoy. He has planted many gardens and maintains them so they look fantastic at show time - all at his own expense. Mr Webb also maintains, mows and weeds, what Oberonites know, as the "Old Cemetery" on the Duckmaloi Road and Muttons Falls Cemetery.

When Oberon experienced its last drought and the dam level dropped to just seven per cent, Mr Webb was seen walking the shorelines, collecting all the rubbish ranging from beer cans and bottles to old chairs. And many times you would see him picking up rubbish on the Bathurst Road.

When asked why he works so tirelessly he says it keeps him fit and he is working for his age pension. I worked with Mr Webb for a few years at the Oberon Showground and I did not realise all the work he does. If anybody is reading this and is feeling bored or would like to get some fresh air and exercise I'm sure Mr Webb would be able to point you in the right direction.
