Members will be distributing information packs about readying your property for the bushfire season. They are also looking to recruit non-active members and active members to boost numbers. The Mayfield Rural Fire shed is located at 3 Simmons Road, Wisemans Creek.
Meanwhile, at 11.06am on Sunday, firefighters were called to a grass fire in the state forest off Shooters Hill Road.
A member of the public foraging in the area saw smoke and called triple-0. The fire was inaccessible via the vehicle, so firefighters proceeded on foot with hand tools. The fire was contained but not extinguished until Oberon NSW RFS arrived and gained access via four-wheel drive tanker. Oberon FRNSW crews said the fire was ignited by lightning.
AUXILIARY NEWS
AT the recent meeting of the Oberon Hospital Auxiliary, approval was given for a number of items to be purchased for our hospital. The next bingo afternoon will be held in the Robey Centre at 1.30pm on Friday, November 8. These afternoons are very popular, featuring lots of prizes, a delicious afternoon tea and an opportunity to socialise. The auxiliary will hold another street stall on December 5 and 6.

MOVIE NIGHT
OBERON Youth Council will present a Halloween Movie Night, for ages 15 to 24, this Friday, November 1 at the Oberon Community Centre from 6pm.
GOLF DAY
OBERON Local Government Golf Day will be held on Friday, November 15. The hole in one challenge will start at 1pm for your chance to win a Caterpillar Excavator package valued at $50,000. You must be a registered player to take part in the challenge and you will get one shot only.
