OBERON Council is expecting a tourism boost when the Redfin Roundup fishing competition returns.

Around 300 visitors are expected at the Reef Reserve over the weekend of November 2 and 3 and tourism and economic development manager Mat Webb says the majority will be from well outside the area.
The Redfin Roundup is one of the key events in Oberon Outdoor Week, which will run from November 2 to 10.
"We're expecting roughly 50 to 60 per cent of people attending to come from outside the Central West - predominantly from Sydney," Mr Webb said.

He said the timing for the event was deliberate.
"Sometimes there's a bit of a lull after the October school holidays and in the ramp up to December," he said.
"We're hoping that it [the Redfin Roundup] gives that spike to level out those peaks and troughs in visitation."
Mr Webb said the Redfin Roundup has this year secured participation from Fishcare, OzFish Unlimited and Gone Fishing Day, so there will be a "host of educational opportunities for the budding angler".
"Fishcare will be running workshops at 10am and 11am for the kids focusing on fishing rules and regulations, knots and rigs, and casting tips," he said.

Anglers can register on the day or collect participant packs from Oberon Outdoor and Electronic from Thursday, October 24.
