Fire and Rescue NSW's Oberon crews may dash into burning buildings and attend car accidents, but these firefighters quite regularly attend animal rescues.
At 7.33am on Wednesday firefighters were called to a cat up a pole on Cunynghame Street in Oberon.
"411 [Oberon brigade] was responded to an assist public with eight-month-old tabby 'Jessica' stuck at the top of a telegraph pole," firefighters said in a statement.
Her owner said she had been there since the early hours of that morning.
"Due to the proximity to the live wires, the energy authorities were called to rescue Jessica who was safely returned to her owner," firefighters said.
During the 2017/18 financial year, Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters were called to 1590 animal rescues across the state.
The rescues are for a wide range of animals who have got themselves stuck and in this financial year it included horses, cattle and a llama.
