A PERSON has been taken to hospital with smoke inhalation following an overnight blaze that damaged two shops.

Emergency services were called to a property on Main Street in Oberon at 9.43pm on Wednesday following reports of a fire.
"Upon arrival, heavy smoke and blacked out windows were observed from the laundromat as well as the adjoining shop," Fire and Rescue NSW Oberon crews said in statement.
"Firefighting operations commenced with crews using BA (breathing apparatus) to find the seat of the fire and extinguish any residual hot spots."
Fire damage was contained to a dryer with smoke damage throughout the two shops.
The buildings were ventilated and handed back to the respective owners.

- Never leave items in a clothes dryer unattended either on or off.
- Working smoke alarms save lives. Commercial buildings should look into back to base alarms and sprinkler systems.
