At last week's council meeting, a recommendation was carried to donate 50 per cent of the proceeds from the garage sale to the McGrath Foundation and 50 per cent to council's drought relief fund.
Council staff have gathered items that have been stored in various locations across council facilities which have been obsolete for some time and for which council has no future use.

The items being put up for sale range from library shelving and broken black vinyl chairs to gymnastic equipment, chairs, mats and other items that are being gathered.
Oberon's event will be part of the Garage Sale Trail happening right across Australia to reduce waste and minimise environmental impacts.
Corporate services director Lynette Safranek's report to last week's meeting said it is an opportunity to dispose of unwanted items and encourage community members to hold their own stalls, while raising much-needed funds for the McGrath Foundation and council's drought relief fund.
