One of the highlights is the long awaited official opening of the Oberon Skate Park. The Oberon Skate Park and Youth Precinct comprises of a new 542 square metre in-ground, bowl-style skate park, as well as landscaping, street furniture, gable roof shelters and lighting at the Oberon Common. The park will be opened by the Hon. Paul Toole MP who said the facility was great for the youth in Oberon.
"The community has been calling for this skate park for several years, so I'm thrilled it's come to fruition," he said. "This project will deliver a space for locals to call their own, to skate or ride a BMX bike in the family-friendly setting at the Oberon Common". The facility will cater for skaters of all ages and abilities and will include a beginner level quarter pipe, grind ledges and grind rails around the edges of an intermediate to advanced level bowl.
The official opening will be held at 11.30am on Saturday, September 28 and coincide with a skating clinic. The clinic will run from 10.00am to 4.00pm and is open to all skill levels. There will also be plenty of demonstrations, prizes and giveaways for the crowd.
