The alert, issued by Live Traffic on Wednesday morning, was for areas between Bathurst and Lithgow with snow falling in both locations.
Yetholme and Sunny Corner had already received snow by 7am on Wednesday, with more predicted during the day.
"Motorists should drive to the conditions as snow on the road my affect vehicle traction," the alert stated.
A spokesperson for Roads and Maritime Services said snow was expected for areas above 900 metres and could impact motorists travelling in areas around Lithgow, Bathurst, Orange, Oberon, Blayney and over the Blue Mountains.
"Roads and Maritime Services will endeavour to maintain access along all major corridors within the affected areas," they said.

"Snow clearing equipment will be at key locations and traffic conditions will be monitored.
"Crews will carry out salt spreading throughout the night to help reduce the likelihood of black ice forming with the low overnight temperatures.
"Portable and permanent VMS boards will be utilised to provide motorists with real-time traffic information."
The last days of winter have brought a cold snap to the Lithgow region and the Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting tops of just 8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 8 on Thursday.
It will be even colder in Oberon with forecast tops of just eight and six, respectively.
Motorists are advised to take additional caution and drive to conditions.
Snow and black ice create additional road hazards and motorists should limit travel where possible, reduce speed, limit braking and keep an increased distance between vehicles in front.
