This year Mary Maher had the honour of flag bearer and proudly carried the flag leading the march.
School captains Amy Reynolds and Rhydah Leihn attended the remembrance ceremony where they met guest speaker captain Glen Miles.
Oberon High School held its annual commemorative service in the first week back after school holidays. The ceremony was attended by Mr Bill Wilcox and Mr Neville Stapleton who are both war veterans. Their attendance reminded us that members of our community have served in wars throughout history.
Mr Wilcox recited the Ode and spoke of the significance of this year being the 50th anniversary of his own events serving his country that inspired the song "I Was Only 19".
Mr Wilcox is a veteran of the Vietnam War, and will be travelling to Vietnam with the OZ Youth Choir to commemorate the anniversary of his time in Vietnam.
Members of the OZY Youth Choir will be performing at the Oberon RSL Sub Branch Military Museum on Sunday, May 19 at 12 noon.
Members of the community are encouraged to come along and find out more about the choir and more information on the one week anniversary tour to Vietnam in July. Mr Wilcox invites anyone in the Oberon community, who is interested, to join the choir and accompany them to Vietnam.
