Blunt Side Sk8 Park Tours was booked to host the opening which will now be rescheduled for another day.
"Unfortunately due to the predicted unfavourable weather conditions the soft opening of the skate park has been deferred to a date to be advised," Oberon Council posted on its Facebook page.
"The forecast for Friday and Saturday is for snow and showers which prevents the event from continuing for safety reasons. We look forward to the community joining us at a later date."
Excavation work started In February for the construction of the 542 square metre in-ground, bowl-style skate park. Yet to be completed is the landscaping, street furniture, gable roof shelters and lighting.
Oberon Youth Council actively participated in community consultation to design the project, which cost an estimated $529,000.
The NSW Government has contributed $500,000 to the project from round one of the Stronger Country Communities Fund announced by Bathurst MP Paul Toole last September.
The facility will cater for skaters of all abilities and includes a beginner level quarter pipe, grind ledges leading to an intermediate to advanced level bowl.
