Part of the Code of Meeting Practice is that all meetings of council and committees of the council are to be webcast on council's website.
Councils in the state will be required to webcast meetings from December 14, 2019. Councils must include supplementary provisions in their adopted codes of meeting practice that specify whether meetings are to be livestreamed or recordings of meetings uploaded on the council's website at a later time.
The supplementary provisions must also specify whether the webcast is to comprise an audio-visual recording of the meeting or an audio recording.
A copy of the policies can be viewed at council's website, www.oberon.nsw.gov.au, or council's administration offices at 137 Oberon Street, Oberon.
Written submissions can be sent to the General Manager, Oberon Council, PO Box 84, Oberon, NSW, 2787.
IN OTHER NEWS AROUND OBERON:
TREE POLICY
AT council's most recent ordinary meeting, a motion was moved by Cr Brenda Lyon that council develop a tree policy.
In Cr Lyon's report, she said unsuitable trees had been planted in and around Oberon in the past.
"A tree can absorb as much as 48 pounds of carbon dioxide per year and can sequester one tonne of carbon dioxide by the time it reaches 40 years old," she said in her report.
"They can be used for beautification. They can provide shade to reduce the temperature.
"Evergreens, other than natives, were planted and give shade over roads, making it very dangerous in winter."
The motion was carried to develop a plan to identify unsuitable plantings and replace them and for staff to have correct training on the care and maintenance of trees.
