Council resolved to buy the four-bathroom, one-bathroom house at 68 Dart Street in September 2018 and, in the time since, it has been established how much maintenance is required.
Council has been told the following work is needed if it wants to rent the property for a reasonable return:
Repaint all the interior and exterior ($17,000); replace all curtains with blinds ($2000); install hardwired smoke detectors ($400); replace kitchen ($6000); repair the ceiling ($100); replace all external window screens ($800); replace carpets ($6000); replace floor coverings ($1200); replace back door ($400); replace tub and taps in laundry ($300); front door ($700); remove tiles in front of the heater ($100); replace the toilet ($200); new bathroom vanity ($600); and new shower screen ($800).
It is anticipated the house will attract around $350 a week once renovated.
