Mr May said as a local farmer who’s lived in the electorate all his life, he believes he’s in touch with local issues. He also promised to be open and approachable.
Mr May said he will be coming to Oberon often to speak with business owners and community people.

Mr May chatted to Marj Armstrong, who said Mr May is a farmer who grows potatoes in the Forest Reefs area of Bathurst.
“He has a family and is well aware of how hard people on the land have had it during the drought. His down-to-earth attitude is welcome when deciding on who to vote for in the next state election," she said.
Mr May was confirmed as the Shooters and Fishers’ candidate in August last year, when he said he would be looking to emulate Phil Donato’s effort in overcoming a significant margin to win the 2016 Orange byelection.
Paul Toole is the Nationals’ candidate for Bathurst for the state election and the Labor candidate is Beau Riley.
