The fire started off the Upper Turon Road at Palmers Oaky, with crews from multiple NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) brigades rushing to the scene.
“Thanks to the quick work of firefighters the blaze was brought under control before it was able to spread far,” Eglinton RFS brigade said.
As of Monday morning the blaze is listed as under control on the NSW RFS Fires Near Me website.
The blaze comes following two other bushfires in the Chifley/Lithgow Team RFS zone, both begun on Thursday afternoon.
One was a nine-hectare blaze which started near property off Commonwealth Avenue in Lithgow. It burnt within 20 metres of homes and came dangerously close to telecommunications equipment.
While a three hectare fire ignited due to a lightning strike in rugged bushland at Wolgan Valley.
The NSW RFS has asked the community to be mindful of their activities during the festive period, especially on New Year’s Eve.
If you see a fire without a fire truck in attendance, call triple-0 immediately.
