A team of volunteers, along with staff at the club, renovated the greens during the week. This is an annual job. Greens are cored and then sanded with a special 90/10 blend of sand to fill the cores and help rejuvenate the greens.
A good result has been achieved. Congratulations on a mighty effort.
Saturday’s golf attracted a strong field of 41 to play a stroke round for the Monthly Medal and putting competition. Alan Cairney was the generous sponsor of the round this month.
Dennis O'Connell has hit some good form over the past month and continued that on Saturday to win A grade with a good round of golf, scoring 84/68 to win the Monthly Medal.
Runner-up was Andrew Yeo with a fine score of 86/70. Laurie Murphy is desperate to get himself back into A grade and did all he could to achieve that on Saturday.
He had a fine round of 85/68 to win the B grade Monthly Medal, the B grade scratch ball and the B grade putting.
Harold Lyme was the B grade runner-up with a nett score of 71. John McKinnon won the A grade scratch ball with a round of 75 and Kyall Ryan won the A grade putting with 28 putts.
Nearest the pin on the seventh was Peter Ryan and Darren Gordon was closest on the ninth. Balls went to Marty Hotham, Peter Stewart, Anthony McGrath, John McKinnon, Kyall Ryan and Wayne Sellers.
Golf next Saturday will be an 18-hole stableford event. The Henbury Open is coming up in the next few weeks, so let’s have a good representation of our members there.
Since the rain and the warmth of the spring sun, there is plenty of work to be done on the course. If you have a spare hour or two, see Rob or Mick for how to direct your efforts.
