Each year, council recognises residents for their outstanding contributions to the community.
It is that time of the year, and council is asking members of the community to nominate the next Oberon Council citizen of the year, young citizen of the year, sportsperson of the year, young sportsperson of the year, sports team of the year, community event of the year and volunteer or volunteer group of the year.
“Everyone knows someone who makes our community a better place – perhaps by the work they do, the encouragement they bring or their vision and passion,” a council spokesperson said.
“These awards provide the opportunity to celebrate that contribution. Last year, council received a record number of nominations.”
The 2019 Australia Day Awards will be presented at the Oberon Showground Hall on Australia Day, Saturday, January 26, 2019.
Nominations close at 4.30pm on Friday, November 2.
