SIX-TIME Golden Guitar winner Melinda Schneider will be in Oberon next month to perform some classic country music tunes.
Schneider, known for her very successful solo career, has recorded 10 albums, two of them gold, and has collected numerous awards and accolades over her years in the music industry.
She is a former female vocalist of the year winner and APRA song of the year winner and also boasts a swag of songwriting and entertainer of the year awards.
To celebrate the 2014 release of Schneider and Beccy Cole’s collaborative album, Great Women Of Country, and the songs that made them, Schneider and Cole presented some special concert performances in 2015, delivering the new album live in full.
Cole’s schedule is full due to the recent release of her new solo project and book, so Schneider is continuing on to expose the album to audiences around the country who have not yet been lucky enough to see it performed in concert.
Featuring 22 classic country tunes, Great Women Of Country the concert is described as Schneider’s heartfelt homage to the songs, the songwriters and the singers who have shaped her.
Her Oberon audience can look forward to renditions of Tammy Wynette’s Stand By Your Man and D.I.V.O.R.C.E., Linda Ronstadt’s Blue Bayou, Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons’ Love Hurts, Dolly Parton’s I Will Always Love You and 9 to 5 and many more.
Schneider impressed so much during a performance at Ettalong Diggers that the entertainment manager Anthea Johnson described her as “simply wonderful”.
”She is one of those unique performers who sound as good live as they do on a CD,” Ms Johnson said.
“Her show Great Women Of Country was completely captivating. The band feature some of the best musicians in the country and her voice, performance and connection with the audience are world class. It was an absolute pleasure to watch and listen to Melinda perform Great Women Of Country.”
Schneider will perform Great Women Of Country the concert at the Oberon RSL Club on Friday, October 12.
