Despite the premier league team bowing out in the first elimination semi-final, a bumper crowd turned up to look back, acknowledge and thank the efforts of players, sponsors and volunteers.
As the dust settled on the season, the fact that the league tag and under 18s teams each had 24 registered players, and first division had a staggering 35 registered players, indicated that the Oberon Tigers Club is well and truly alive and kicking!

Among a plethora of well-deserved awards, one that stood out was the G and J Groves Trophy for the best and fairest all grades, which was shared by league tag’s popular Jess Ryan and our 2019 premier league captain/coach Josh Starling.
Other prestigious honours went to club stalwarts Darren Fenton, who received the club man of the year award, and president Ian Christie-Johnston, who was presented with life membership.
The Tigers are on the recruitment trail for the 2019 season and make no secret of the fact that the focus is on securing and developing local talent.
Starling has already put plans in place that will ensure any player in the Tigers livery next year will learn new skills and become better footballers.
Starling, a former NRL footballer, has signed a two-year contract with the Tigers.
Known as an uncompromising, ball-playing front row forward, he says he is looking to bring a steel edge to the Tigers under his reign at the club.
The club’s secretary Neil O’Grady said the support of sponsors in 2018 was absolutely fantastic.
“We look forward to continuing the relationship by getting behind and promoting their businesses again in 2019,” he said.
The Tigers’ annual general meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 10 starting at 6pm at the Oberon Leagues Club.
All are welcome, so come along and get behind the 2019 Tigers campaign.
